Job Summary
Hello, welcome to Alex D. Delivery, we are currently hiring ON-CALL / floater positions for Class A CDL driver. These position will cover multiple routes including day time local routes, early morning local routes, and night linehauls. This position requires that the candidate be readily availably within 2 hours of the call out for any route that needs to be covered day or night, all routes are home daily. There is a possibility these routes will need to be covered for multiple days. This position could also move into a full time role when available, as we are a growing company. All candidates will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, adherence to FMCSA regulations, and excellent driving skills. CDL candidates will operate a day cab with a 53' trailer, and ensure timely deliveries of products while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
Having a TWIC card is a bonus but not required.
All candidates must be 25 or older.
All candidates must be able to drive a manual transmission, automatic drivers license restrictions will not be considered for the position.
Duties
- Operate tractor trailers including day cabs, and 53' dry vans.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety compliance.
- Plan routes effectively using GPS to optimize delivery schedules and minimize delays.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (hours of service).
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving.
- Communicate with office dispatch regarding delivery status and any issues encountered during transit.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Skills
- Proven experience in truck driving with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Familiarity with operating various types of tractor trailers.
- Ability to navigate 53' trailers.
- Navigation skills with the ability to read maps and use GPS technology effectively.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and company team members.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be able to drive a manual transmission
