We are the 2nd largest privately owned business in Wayne County (Goldsboro, NC) and we service approximately 1200 convenience stores in five states (North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Georgia). We are the 9th largest convenience store distributor in the United States. Everything that we sell is shipped from our facility in Goldsboro, NC.
Our drivers work a 4 day work week and our drivers are home EVERY WEEKEND! Some of our drivers may have one overnight stay per week. Our drivers that run the overnight routes enjoy a company paid comfortable hotel room, a company paid dinner and a company paid breakfast the next morning.
- Applicants must have a Class A CDL license and a health card as required by DOT.
- Applicants must be able to complete and fulfill all DOT requirements.
- Applicants must be able to lift and remove the pull-out ramp used to off-load the merchandise, transfer the customer’s merchandise from our trailer into the store with a hand truck and place that merchandise in designated areas within the store. Scanning devices are provided to reduce the risk of mistakes.
Responsibilities
- Operate a Class A CDL vehicle safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport goods to designated locations, unload freight as necessary.
- Maintain accurate logs and vehicle maintenance records.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and functionality.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise.
- Utilize trailer, including refrigerated, as required by the job.
Our trucks are late model vehicles that are leased and serviced regularly.
Our drivers are properly trained to perform all expected duties that allow us to continue to be successful. Established company policies and company procedures are clearly defined so that there are no misunderstandings between our customers, Southco Distributing Company and our drivers.
