The CDL Driver - Class A is a key member of the Operations and Logistics team, responsible for transporting inventory to and from Heritage branch warehouses, event sites, and other designated locations across the U.S. This role ensures safe, timely, and efficient transportation of equipment, while upholding Heritage brand standards. The position also requires support on show sites and in the warehouse when not driving. Drivers are expected to maintain vehicle records, perform inspections, and comply with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Primary Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Operate CDL and non-CDL vehicles (tractor-trailers, straight trucks) for regional and long-haul deliveries
  • Transport inventory between Heritage branches, warehouses, and event sites locally and nationwide
  • Load and unload vehicles with the warehouse or onsite event team, ensuring proper handling and safety
  • Maintain accurate ELD (Electronic Logging Device) logs per FMCSA and company policies
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any safety or maintenance concerns
  • Record fuel receipts and maintain accurate IFTA mileage reports
  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness, including external presentation and interior safety supplies
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal traffic regulations and Heritage safety policies
  • Maintain contact with supervisor while in transit and provide updates as required


Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site logistics and support duties at show sites when not driving (e.g., helping stage or unload)
  • Assist with warehouse operations between jobs including equipment movement and organization
  • Communicate respectfully with internal staff, clients, venue contacts, and show labor
  • Assist with securing or tarping loads, checking strapping and tie-downs according to safety protocol
  • Participate in driver meetings and submit regular status updates and checklists
  • Represent the Heritage brand with professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct


Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position is full-time and in-person, requiring frequent travel to Heritage branch locations, show sites, and other venues across the country. This includes overnight travel and weekend/extended work hours based on event schedules.

Frequent sitting (while driving), standing, walking, loading, grasping, and hand motion. Occasional climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Heritage Exposition Services is a DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE and requires pre-employment drug and background screenings.

Requirements


Required Skills & Qualifications


Required:

  • Valid Class A CDL license
  • Valid DOT Medical Certificate
  • 2+ years of commercial driving experience
  • Must be 21+ to drive in state; 25+ for interstate driving per insurance requirements
  • Clear motor vehicle driving record (subject to screening)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background screening


Preferred:

  • Experience in live event or trade show transportation
  • Forklift certification or loading experience
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT compliance procedures
